MAP TRAINING
EDUCATION FOR YOUR FUTURE
This course is a legal requirement for any person who directs the operators of mobile and tower cranes. It will provide the skills and knowledge required to direct the operator to safely sling and direct loads, and to maintain and care for dogging equipment.

The course requires participants to complete reading tasks, written assessments and load calculations (including working with angles), as well as learn knots and hand and whistle signals. The mathematics component will require students to commit to extra study time both before and during the training to ensure the best possible chance of a successful outcome.

Course Content:
* Use the various types of ropes, slings, chains and accessories.
* Calculate the safe working load (SWL) of any rope, slings, or chain to be used for lifting.
* Assess the weight of loads to be lifted.
* Safely sling loads of different weights and sizes.
* Direct a crane or hoist operator in the movement of a load when the load is out of the operator’s view.
* Give the hand signals and whistle signals used for directing loads.

Course preparation:
On payment of deposit, a booklet will be sent to participants explaining the course in detail. This must be read before the course begins, as it contains information relevant to the course  and includes a number of questions that must be answered.

Course Outcome:
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment and a licence issued by WorkCover NSW.
