MAP Training - Senior First Aid

Apply First Aid (formerly Senior First Aid) is designed for professionals and other people who wish to undertake emergency first aid response in a range of trauma and medical first aid emergencies. This course aims to provide participants with the theoretical knowledge and practical competencies to respond effectively to first aid emergencies in the workplace or otherwise and render first aid aligned with the current Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.

Course Content:
This unit covers the competency associated with the provision of first aid in emergency situations as outlined by the Australian Resuscitation Council, including:

* Legal, Ethical and Safety Issues
* Respond to an Emergency
* First Aid-Trauma
* First Aid-Medical

Assessment will be conducted through written examination as well as practical activity demonstration and assessment. Apply First Aid
Is a competency based unit. Questions answered incorrectly in the written assessment will be discussed and verbally reassessed.

Course Outcome:
Candidates who successfully complete this unit will be eligible for a Statement of Attainment in HLTFA301B Apply First Aid, as per the national competency.

Note: It is essential that a refresher course is completed every 3 years to maintain currency of first aid skills.
